Ronnie Pease left the Card Player Poker Tour with a pleased expression across his face having come in first during the Foxwoods main event earlier this week.

The $1,650 No-Limit Hold’Em $300,000 Guarantee Main Event drew in 22 other entrants. Day 1 knocked out 9 players and by day two Pease had climbed the ranks of the remaining 13 to claim his prize. The final table lasted over 13 hours in all and despite the grueling pace, players were no worse for the wear.

Because the final head’s up phase lasted a solid four hours, Pease and 2nd place finisher Chris Tryba ultimately decided on a chop that split the pot at $85K for each player and the two then proceeded to play for the remaining $12K and change. The two then recalculated to make even money, with the victor entitled to trophy and bragging rights. Pease earned an additional 480 Card Player of the Year points for the feat.

The final hand came down to Pease, holding Jh/9h, and 2012 WSOP bracelet holder Chris Tryba, who held an A/5 off-suite, as the board played out with Kd/Qc/7s/Qd/9s.Tryba had no chance for triumph over Pease ‘s pair of 9’s.

The next installment of the CPPT will take place at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, Nevada the 21st-30th March.
