The United States is expecting its annual address to the country from President Barak Obama. What many D.C. residents are more excited about is the slew of special bingo events popping up all over the city.

Restaurants and bars in Washington are capitalizing on viewers’ expectations of predictable rhetoric stately applause. The Diner in Adams Morgan will be one watering hole throwing its own viewing event and bingo party featuring hot wing and beer specials.

The 201 bar will host a bingo party for the Washington Examiner, where beer specials and generous prizes are sharing the spotlight. Prizes include a $100 Visa gift card, $50 DC Coast gift card, and plenty of swag from the Examiner vaults. Prospective players can reserve their cards ahead of time, but they’ll need to remember to bring their own blotters.

Columbia Heights’ own Lou’s City Bar will be giving away $25 gift certificates and shots to bingo winners for the occasion. Drink specials will run for the duration of the event.

President Obama will address his administration’s performance since last year’s address and put on this year’s Democratic agenda, which will no doubt look to maintain the Democrats’ majority in the Senate and outline a plan to boost the president’s 43% approval rating among citizens, a rating identical to that of George Bush during his 2006 State of the Union address.
