Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center hosted a unique bingo event last week that filled seats with students and alumni hungry to play Grocery Bingo.

Setting itself apart from the bingo we are all familiar with, where cash prizes are awarded to winners, Grocery Bingo give prizes in the form of toiletries, snacks, cleaning supplies and other items every college student can use. A veritable mountain of meals and conveniences were piled in front of eager players at the game’s beginning.

While competitive spirits ran high, the game acted as a great opportunity for students and alumni to get to know each other.

Traditional bingo games were spotlighted but eventually gave way to more abstract pattern games, like four corners, picture frame and blackout bingo styles. Bags and bags of goodies were given away and smiles spread quickly across the room. Some participating students had never won or even played bingo before the night’s event.

Assorted bags of food quickly disappeared from the prize table while cases of drinks and cleaning supplies were soon to follow. The evening finished strong when the final prize was won by one lucky player late into the evening. It was a bag of Clorox disinfecting wipes.
