Canada’s got some die-hard bingo fans and the loyalty has paid off again for a one lucky player in Agassiz.

The province in British Columbia is one of the few left with a dedicated bingo hall, but that hasn’t stopped residents and visitors from sitting down for a few games each week. Most everyone comes for the fun and communal vibe of the game, but each hopes to strike it rich with a modest windfall.

For one lucky player that hope came to fruition. Gwyn Holinaty was happily surprised with a jackpot bingo win earlier this month at the Agassiz Agricultural and Horticultural Association’s regular bingo night, where she went home with an extra $2,000 in her pockets.

Volunteer Victoria Brookes knows this isn’t the biggest game around, but still had this to say about her beloved bingo hall, “We are smaller than most of the bingos, but it lets us get to know our players better.”

Games are held regularly on Tuesday night at the Agassiz Agricultural and Horticultural Association Hall. Cards go on sale at 5:30pm and the games begin at 6:30.
