German Moto2 Grand Prix

Motor Sport / 13 July 2014, 10:20

The 2014 Moto2 World Championship is heading to the Sachsenring in Germany for the ninth stop of the year and the final one before the summer break.

The championship is coming to Germany after a truly remarkable race at Assen which saw Australia’s Anthony West win from 23rd position. However, all the focus at this event will be on Esteve Rabat especially after Assen where, for the first time in his career, he failed to finish either first or second after starting a Grand Prix from pole position.

However, despite his eighth place finish, he still remains at the front of the standings, an impressive 26 points ahead of Mika Kallio and is guaranteed to remain there regardless of what happens this weekend.

There will also be focus on Marcel Schrotter who is heading to the championship just one point behind Sam Lowes. Schrotter has said he is confident of securing more points this weekend, but he knows he will have to work for them. He acknowledges that despite his familiarity with the track, the problems he is experiencing with his bike this season will make it extremely hard.

Of course there are numerous other riders participating and those at the top of the standings are sure to give it their all as they try to narrow the gap between themselves at Rabat. Mika Kallio is currently is second place and is sure to be hoping to score some points, as is Maverick Vinales who is in third and also still with a chance of catching the leader.
