Sony has released a new mobile blackjack game titled Suits and Swords, a mix of fantasy and role-playing elements married together with a classic casino card game. In what boils down to a versus game of blackjack with a plot, players will lead Captain Blackjack, the game‘s protagonist, as he endeavors to save the land’s four kingdom’s from the clutches of The Joker.

In play you’ll encounter foes in face-to-face combat and need a hand value as close to 21 without going over, beat your opponent’s hand to successfully attack. Several rounds of attacks will be needed to defeat most opponent and hands can be split just like in casino blackjack and offer more opportunities to execute attacks in a single round. A draw in scores will lead to no damage being dealt by either party.

As the game progresses, players will upgrade their character’s magic, weapons, and armor. Additional side-quests may also be unlocked as players delve deeper into the Heart Union, Diamond Empire, Club Kingdom and Spade Nation.

Magic allows for you to add additional points to card values while playing and push you closer to a killing blow, but bear in mind these options are limited. Unique animations for battles keep things interesting as well as the ability to unlock achievements for special feats completed in game, such as defeating an opponent without taking damage.

Battles will reward players with gold used to purchase equipment and magic upgrades as shops located throughout the Suits and Swords world. The free-to-play game is available for use on iOS and Android devices through the Google Play and Amazon App Store.
