When it comes to Texas Hold’Em, players will have a tough time making it through the game without a deck of cards. However, one new poker app has been getting a lot of attention by allowing players to do just that.

The new app is called Bold Poker and it uses a sophisticated algorithm to deal players their hands directly to an iOS mobile or tablet device. The aim of the app is to remove the need for playing cards to enjoy the game, while chips will remain a staple when it comes to betting.

For some, dealing and shuffling can be a chore, but not anymore thanks to this app. The game is still as social as ever and it retains a tangible quality thanks to the chips. Removing the need to deal and shuffle is a blessing for some, while others feel it’s a necessary part of the culture.

Right about now you might be asking, how does it work? First, all players need to have an iPhone, and ideally an iPad will serve as the ‘dealer’. Cards will be distributed by the dealer to each player’s smartphone. The five community cards appear on the iPad and are flipped accordingly with a tap of the finger. Rounds of betting then commence. Finally, moving the dealer button on the iPad will begin a new hand when players are ready.

The developers of the app are looking to add Omaha games soon. Up to 12 players are supported by the app and aside from the devices and chips, you’ll need an internet connection to play.
