The 63rd NBA All-Star Game will take place this Sunday, 16th February. Beyond top-level basketball entertainment, the exhibition game will also feature five additional events. They include: the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, the Sears Shooting Stars Competition, the Taco Bell Skill Challenge, the Foot Locker Three-Pointer Contest and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.

The BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge

Putting together two teams of up-and-coming players on the Friday before the All-Star Game, the exhibition will offer fans a bit of additional excitement and give first and second year players a chance to showcase their skills.

Managed by retired players, Grant Hill and Chris Webber, the teams will be instructed by head coach Rex Kalamian of the Oklahoma City Thunder and the head coach of Indiana PacersNate McMillan.

The Sears Shooting Stars Competition

Three pro ballers will meet on the court to compete against one another in a shooting competition. Participants will include a retired NBA player, a current NBA player and a WNBA player.

The Taco Bell Skill Challenge

Two teams from each conference will compete in this competition set up specifically for guards. After an initial layup is made, the players will proceed with a series of dribble and passing drills through an obstacle course.

The Foot Locker Three-Pointer Contest

Four participants from each conference will compete in a series of three-point shots made from different positions on the court. Positions are situated throughout the floor and must be completed in a series within a time limit.

Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

One of the biggest draws to the special events list, three players from each conference will compete for judge’s scores by creating elaborate and physically demanding slam- dunk spectacles. The contest utilizes a fan voting system, by way of text-messaging, to determine the winner of the final round.
