The 2014 NBA All-Star Game Laced up for Sunday

The East and West’s best have been elected by fans and are ready to go head to head in New Orleans this Sunday for the 63rd edition of the NBA All-Star game. Featuring over a dozen of each conference’s best players, the event will also include several contests that showcase the athlete’s skills.

The All-Star cast includes guards of the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers, Dwayne Wade and Kyrie Irving. As well as LeBron James, Paul George, Carmelo Anthony to make up the Eastern Conference’s starting representatives.

The Western Conference headliners are Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love. Kobe Bryant led the two squads elected players in number of All-Star appearances with 16.While Bryant was elected to participate, a knee injury will sideline him for the duration of the event, but that won’t slow down the Westerners, who carry eight reserve players over the East’s seven. Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans has been appointed to take Kobe’s place in the game.

Steven Curry led the voting tallies for Western Conference players and the Miami Heat’s LeBron James took the East’s and overall title with 1,416,419 votes.

The game will also feature five additional events, the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, the Sears Shooting Stars Competition, the Taco Bell Skill Challenge, the Foot Locker Three-Pointer Contest and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.
