Price Stands Victorious Over Ruzsinszky in First Round KO

Last Year David Price had suffered two consecutive losses against American heavyweight Tony Thompson. However, the 30-year-old Liverpool heavyweight seems to be back in fighting shape after a resounding victory in the first round against Hungary’s Istvan Ruzsinszky. The victory was the result of a connecting right hand two-thirds into the first round that sent Ruzsinszky to the canvas. At that point the fight was stopped by referee decision.

Ruzsinszky was a late replacement for Kazakhstan’s Konstantin Airich, who failed a medical examination prior to the bout. Price’s record currently stands at 16-2-0 with 14 of his wins the result of knockouts. Price is a former British and Common Wealth champion who now works with German promoters, Sauerland. His spirits coming off of the two losses against American fighter Thompson Price may not have been high, but after making a resounding statement in the ring last week it can be assured that for the time being Price is feeling good.

This bout was Price’s first outside of the UK. He was earlier slated to have a go against Russia’s Evgeny Orlov in Germany on 14 December, but withdrew before the event was to take place due to illness.

Price is an Olympic bronze medalist who is currently training under Tommy Brooks, former coach of legendary boxer Mike Tyson.
