In what has proven a fruitful season for the footie favourites Manchester City and Arsenal, Chelsea find themselves continually nipping at the top position in this season’s Premier League standing.
With a particularly compelling showing of late, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is finally seeing his squad come into their own as Arsenal’s Arsène Wenger and City’s Manuel Pellegrini struggle against pressure from expectant supporters.

The seeds of expectation were planted early this season in an interview with the Chelsea manager, where he employed what might be called a deviously clever strategy, insisting that City was destined to take the cup while alluding to the fact that Arsenal had spent so much time building a team strong enough to take the trophy home.

The pressure of reinforcing these affirmations may well be working their poison as all eyes are fixed on the two squads. All the while Chelsea remains persistent, quietly gather points in the shadows. The Blues are currently on a five-game winning streak with their next match against West Ham scheduled for 29th January at 21:45. When last the two teams met, Chelsea came out on top with a 2-0 victory.

The Barclays Premier League standings for week 23 have been released with Arsenal, Man City, and Chelsea claiming the top three positions, with 51, 50, and 49 points respectively.
