Midfielder Juan Mata of Chelsea will soon be joining The Manchester United squad for what is rumored to be the largest transfer sum in history. Man Utd. is reportedly bringing on Mata for £37 million in addition to personal contract terms that may later be agreed upon my Mata and the United management.

However, Chelsea isn’t ready to give up the star midfielder just yet. The Blues have given Mata permission to travel and complete the medical exams necessary, but will likely keep him on until the club can secure the transfer of 21-year-old Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Salah of FC Basel.

Chelsea Manager Mourinho commented,

I asked Mata when the offer came whether he really was happy to go and he said ‘yes, I am really happy to go’. After that we could feel mixed emotions. This is a fantastic opportunity for him. Another big club wants him in the country he wants to stay in, has made the right offer for him, so, although lots of clubs feel you should not sell to rivals, we are different.

Voted Player of the Year in each of the last two seasons, Mata has been a part of winning squads during both the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championship events as well.
