All the European Leagues have finally begun their seasons, although they are currently enjoying a short break while a few last minute transfers are made.

Last weekend’s action began with Olympique Marseille destroying Nice 4 – 0 in Ligue 1 and Borussia Dortmund enjoying a narrow 3 – 2 victory over Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

On Saturday the Premier League brought another disappointing result for Manchester United as they were held to a 0 – 0 draw by Burnley, an emphatic 6 – 3 victory for Chelsea over Everton and the surprise 1 – 0 defeat of Manchester City by Stoke City. Saturday also saw the beginning of Serie A with a 1 – 0 victory for Juventus over Chievo and a 2 – 0 victory for Roma over Fiorentina.

Sunday brought Liverpool’s 3 – 0 defeat of Tottenham as well as victory for Real Sociedad over Real Madrid in La Liga.

As mentioned all the major leagues now have a bit of a break, but there has been a huge amount of transfer activity in the last few days. Manchester United has now signed Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind amongst others and sold a massive 15 players. Arsenal snapped up Danny Welbeck from United, while Real Madrid has Javier Hernandez on loan. Manchester City have loaned Negredo to Valencia having signed defender Eliaquim Mangala from Porto.

There have been hundreds of changes made in this transfer window and clubs and managers now know what they are dealing with until it reopens on January 1st. In the meantime most teams now have close to two weeks to train together and adjust to the new faces on the field.
