It has been a week of ups and downs for football fans across the continent, but there have been some fantastic results.

There’s never a dull moment in the Premier League and this week was no exception. Frank Lampard scored against his old club to level the game for Manchester City and leave Chelsea disappointed with a draw. Leicester City stunned Manchester United beating them 5 – 3 and Arsenal beat Southampton to climb to fourth place in the table.

In Spain Real Madrid demolished Deportivo 8 – 2 with a hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo and two goals from Gareth Bale. Barcelona also had a good week beating Levante 5 – 0 thanks to some fantastic work from Lionel Messi.

Serie A saw Juventus beat AC Milan 1 – 0 as coach Massimiliano Allegri returned to his former club after being fired eight months ago. AS Roma also enjoyed victory, beating Cagliari 2 – 0 with goals from Mattia Destro and Alessandro Florenzi.

In Germany Bayern Munich were left frustrated after being held to a 0 – 0 draw by Hamburg SV. It was also a bad week for Borussia Dortmund who lost 2 – 0 to Mainz 05 and will be without Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the next month due to an injury he sustained during the game. However, Moritz Stoppelkamp set a new Bundesliga record, scoring an 83 metre goal from deep in his own half as Paderborn beat Hanover 96 2 – 0.
