As always it has been an excellent week of football right across the continent with fantastic matches in every league.

In England Diego Costa scored his eighth league goal in six games as Chelsea defeated Aston Villa 3 – 0. Manchester City beat Hull City 4 – 2 and Southampton beat QPR 2 – 1. It was also a good week for Manchester United; they managed their second win of the season beating West Ham 2 – 1.

In Spain Neymar scored a hat-trick and Messi added a brace as Barcelona defeated Granada 6 – 0 to move to 16 points from six games with a goal difference of 17-0. Atletico Madrid beat Sevilla 4 – 0 and is now just two points behind the league leaders. Real Madrid won their game 2- 0 against Villarreal and moved up to fifth place.

In Germany Bayern Munich stayed at the top of the Bundesliga after beating Cologne 2 – 0. In second place Borussia Moenchengladbach beat Paderborn 2 – 1. However, Borussia Dortmund’s season failed to get any better as they were defeated 2 – 1 by Schalke 04.

Juventus continued their 100% start to the season in Italy with a 3 – 0 win against Atlanta and have not yet conceded a goal this season. AS Roma beat Verona 2 – 0 and are only trailing Juventus on goal difference after a similar 100% start to the season.
