This Saturday, 7th February, Everton is host to Liverpool at Goodison Park for their next game in the Premier League season.
The Merseyside derby is the longest running top-flight derby in England and has been running since the 1962/63 season. It is always an extremely hard fought match with intense rivalry between the two teams. The last one took place in September 2014 and it ended in a 1 – 1 draw while in January 2014 Liverpool beat Everton 4 – 0. However, the previous three derbies, May and November 2013 and October 2012, all ended in draws.
However, this time the bookies at Winner Sports believe that Liverpool is set to win and has given them odds of 6/5. The odds on Everton winning are 9/4 while a draw is at 47/20. Nonetheless, in the correct score markets the shortest odds, of 11/2, are on a 1 – 1 draw.
At present Everton is twelfth in the Premier League with 26 points having won 6 games, drawn 8 and lost 9.
Liverpool is currently seventh in the league with 38 points having won 11 games, drawn 5 and lost 7.
