Saturday’s World Cup action saw Argentina scrape a 1 – 0 win over Iran while Germany managed to come back from behind to draw 2 – 2 with Ghana, the final match of the day saw Nigeria win 1-0 against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Iran looked good throughout their game and at times it even looked like they may win. However, just as five minutes of extra time were added, Messi managed to get past Iran’s tiring defence and score a goal. It placed Argentina at the top of the group and guaranteed them a spot in the next round while Iran will head back home after their next match.

In the group’s other game, Nigeria finally ended its nine match wait for a World Cup win. The victory means that Bosnia and Herzegovina are out of the tournament having failed to win a match in their first time at the World Cup.

In the game between Ghana and Germany things didn’t really get going until the second half. However, within twenty minutes the teams had scored two goals each and Ghana looked as if they were going to cause yet another upset at this World Cup.  The draw means that the USA now has the chance to go to the top of the group today when they play Portugal. However, Portugal need to win this game if they are to progress to the next round. Essentially any of the teams in Group G could still progress and there is still everything to play for.
