UK sports have again been met with upset as Cheltenham sees one of its riders out for the festival due to injury.

Timothy Murphy has been given the news by medics that due to his recurring shoulder injury, he’ll need to sit this one out.

Murphy is a Grand National- winning jockey and will need to undergo surgery to repair a shoulder that has suffered two dislocations in a period of only three months. The most recent instance followed an injury Murphy had suffered at home, while the initial dislocation was the result of a scuffle with fellow jockey Dominic Elsworth in the weighing room last December. The altercation earned Murphy a nine-day ban on top of a bum shoulder.

Murphy’s Grand National win came on the back of Comply or Die, who was trained by David Pipe.
