Jenny Jones made history with her snowboarding run in an event new to the Winter Olympics, Slopestyle. The athlete/chalet maid hailing from Bristol was awarded bronze following an outstanding routine at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.

Jones went up against 10 other competitors during the event, earning a ranking of 5th after her first run and a score of 87.25 following her second, propelling herself to the top of the scores. Anna Gasser of Austria was a top medal prospect, however an unfortunate spill on the slopes during her final run helped to secure Jones’ position to win the bronze.

Jones had an impressive track record prior to competing calling three X Games championships her own. She was also the oldest competitor in the Slopestyle final by six years.

Words of congratulations and support quickly flooded in as news of Jones’ feat spread and fans took to social media outlets, Twitter and Facebook.

Thrilled to have her family in the audience to witness the momentous moment, Jones popped the cork on a bottle of campaign and raised her glass with family and teammates to enjoy her first drink in six months.
